Château Viranel is without doubt the finest producer in the tiny St-Chinian appellation in the Languedoc. It is located in the commune of Cessenon and covers 40 hectares on south-facing chalky/limestone terraces at St-Chinian, close to Bêziers on the Mediterranean coast.

The estate has been owned by the same family since 1551, and is currently run by two hardworking brothers, Arnaud and Nicolas. Syrah, Grenache and Carignan are planted on the estate, which produces red, white, and rosé wines.

Tradition Rouge is a blend of 40% Syrah, 40% Grenache noir, 10% Mourvèdre, and 10% Carignan.

Notes and Reviews

Domain Tasting

Robe: deep with violet highlights. Nose: complex griotte cherry, violet and liquorice. First taste refreshing with blackcurrant aromas. Palate: rich and fleshy with velvety tannins, lovely well-balanced wine with long ending and moka notes. Ready to taste, but can be kept for 5 to 7 years in good conditions.
